2. Millau viaduct bridge, France

Soaring over the Tarn River valley, the Millau Viaduct is a modern marvel of engineering. Rising 1,125 feet above the valley floor, it is the world’s tallest bridge, its slender pylons piercing the clouds. The view is spectacular, but for the height averse it is a trial of nerves. Gliding high above the landscape with open sky all around is both thrilling and daunting.
