Weighing 120–200 pounds, Boerboels often underestimate their power. Bred to protect families and hunt game, they are courageous and loyal. They will defend their family at all costs and can become aggressive if they sense danger, reverting to survival mode if humans seem threatened. Early socialization and training are advised.
