Rottweilers were initially bred to pull carts and guard homes. Known for their intensity, they were among the first livestock herders. Many consider Rottweilers smart and active, needing ample attention and exercise. Without this, they can become aggressive, which can escalate to biting, attacking, or scratching. The Association of Professional Dog Trainers estimates a Rottweiler’s bite force at 328 psi—about 2.5 times the average human’s.
